Post-00s drug dealers use virtual coins for payments, buried drugs across 7 provinces and were arrested.
On June 30, according to reports, Shanghai police discovered a photo like this on the phones of drug users during their arrests. An inconspicuous photo of a greenbelt had a red mark on it. Following the road surveillance, the police found the figure of the drug dealer.
A man in black is squatting in front of the green belt digging in the soil. He then buries something in the ground and takes a photo with his phone. Following the trail of the drug dealer, the police dug up the soil one by one and found the marijuana he had buried. At the same time, the police also discovered other drug users because of this.
These drug users all contacted drug dealers through overseas chat software, and after paying with virtual currency as instructed, they received photos of the buried drug points sent by the dealers. A post-00s drug dealer named Li Qi was finally captured; he admitted that he found such a "side hustle" method on the foreign internet. After receiving the drugs from his supplier, he could earn 50 yuan for each package he buried. In just a few days, he buried hundreds of packages of drugs.
The police found that he drove across 7 provinces, digging and burying drugs, taking location photos, allowing buyers to excavate drugs like "treasure hunting." Li Qi even lived and ate in the car, turning it into a "mobile drug trafficking vehicle." Currently, the criminal suspect Li Qi has been lawfully arrested by the prosecutorial authorities for suspected drug trafficking. The follow-up investigation related to the case is still ongoing.
