The Ethereum Foundation released "Protocol Update 001 – Scale L1"

Wu learned that the Ethereum Foundation has released "Protocol Update 001 – Scale L1", updating the latest work progress in "Scale L1" recently: Marius van der Wijden joins Ansgar Dietrichs and Tim Beiko to jointly lead L1 expansion work; the mainnet gas limit is increased to 45 million, with a target of 100 million; historical data expiry saves 300-500GB of storage, and a rolling expiry mechanism is under development; block-level access lists (BALs) are candidates for Glamsterdam headlines, enhancing parallel efficiency; benchmark testing optimizes EVM performance; zkEVM verification client prototypes are being advanced, aiming for real-time verification, etc. It is understood that in response to the growing demand of the Ethereum network, the foundation reorganized its R&D team in June and renamed it "Protocol", focusing on three strategic goals: L1 expansion (Scale L1), Blob expansion, and user experience/UX improvement, while ensuring security and decentralization.
