The list of candidates for the Fed chair has expanded as Trump seeks a candidate recognized by the financial markets.

On August 12, it was reported that officials from the Trump administration are expanding the list of candidates to replace Fed Chairman Powell next year, seeking a candidate who can gain the trust of both the president and the financial markets.

According to an anonymous government official, the candidates currently being considered include: current Fed Vice Chair Philip Jefferson and Michelle Bowman, Dallas Federal Reserve Bank President Lorie Logan, former St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank President Jim Bullard, and macroeconomic advisor Mark Zandi. The official also stated that more candidates from the private sector may be considered.
